In 3rd line support im used to dealing with the useless information Helpdesk pass to.

I found this call so hard to believe i had to go out to the user just for the laugh.

Call Log comes in:

Since Network ports activated the floor is vibrating under Desk. User advises this is uncomfortable. User says that its like a pins and needles sensation .

So I go out knowing this is impossible, the user gets on the floor and starts feeling it, so start to laugh out loud. She turns round demanding to know whats so funny. So I tell her that maybe it s a A/C unit or sommet, but the floor is not gonna vibrate off a cable being patched into the cisco switch.

So I leave, by the time I get back to the office she has called the help desk again moaning. My follow up was user may need to see GP and get health check

I am 18 years old and I work at the IS help desk at a fairly large hospital chain (I got the job because my dad is a high up executive in the IS dept at this hospital) and one day I was at work and a surgeon called and said that her computer was not working and asked if I could help her

So I decided that there was an error booting and just had her do a simple restart. And in the time the computer was restarting I just started talking to her about random things. I don t remember how it happened but she asked me how old I was or something (something about an old TV show or something) but me not thinking about it told her

The instant I told her I realized that I shouldn t have. You could just hear her voice change. Shortly after that the computer came up and she was able to log in perfectly

She then thanked me and hung up (or she thought)

I then heard her ranting and yelling about how she went through 12 years of school to be told how to turn her computer off by some stupid 18 year old who probably just got out of high school 3 weeks before.

Moral of the story! If you don t want to be told how to do something by a stupid teenager don t not know how to do it! (and if you are 18 don t tell people)
