Years ago, I was a field service engineer for one of the large news services. We maintained the systems that would bring the news to large corporations, TV, newspaper and radio stations.
We received a panicked call from one of our customers that their laser photo receiver had stopped working and they were not receiving any wire photos to go with their news stories.
I tried to troubleshoot the problem over the phone. But, they were in a hurry to start their holiday weekend, and they just kept saying it was broken and wouldn't spend the time with me to try to analyze the problem.
So, I jumped in my car for the three plus hour drive to this client in holiday rush hour traffic. By the time I arrived only the skeleton night crew of a few editors was left.
After years of fixing computer problems I learned you always start at the source - the electrical plug in the wall.
Sure enough, when I plugged their photo machine back into the wall socket - it magically began working again. **sigh**
Seven hours of overtime and another hour for me to drive home at midnight - just so I could plug their equipment back into the wall, before I started my holiday weekend.
