A (prospective) client wanted me to look at their notebook.
An area on the screen was discolored but the rest of the screen was OK.
(Discolored as in black!)
The screen had been broken but I couldn't feel any crack in the glass and the affected area was much wider than tall.
I quoted a parts and labor price nearly half of what the notebook was purchased for. (I'm not taking a loss on the labor.)
She'll think it over.
After I wrote down the part number and serial numbers I turned it right side up...
THEN...
Under the fluorescent lights I could see a nearly invisible dent in the lid.
The dent position lined up with the dark area.
The screen had been broken from behind!!
Around this time she mentioned having her child fetch it for her at some point.
Well there's your problem!
As written on every bottle of Aspirin...
