IT:
“Ring Ring” (telephone)
“IT how can I help you”
Person:
“OMG The building is on fire!”
IT:
“Is everyone ok? Do I need to call the Fire Department”
Person:
“Yes!! This is an EMERGENCY!!”
IT:
“Where is the fire located?”
Person:
“What?”
IT:
“The fire. Where is it?”
Person:
“Oh. I don’t know. I just know that there is one. HURRY UP and get HELP!”
IT:
“Yeah I’ll get on that but I need to know where the fire is located. Where was the fire seen?”
Person:
“Well, I didn’t actually SEE a fire, but there definitely is one.”
IT:
“Ok. Why do you say that?”
Person:
“Have you felt how hot it is in here? The only way it can feel this hot is if there’s a fire.”
IT:
“How hot is it? Is it burning you?”
Person:
“It’s not burning me, but I am burning up!!”
IT:
“Can you tell me what you were doing when you first noticed this?”
Person:
“Yeah. I had just sat down at my desk after going to the restroom.”
IT:
“Ok so you had just come back from across the hall. Is that correct?”
Person:
“No. The 5th floor.”
IT:
“Aren’t you on the 1st floor?”
Person:
“Yes, but I like to take the stairs to the 5th floor. It helps me get some exercise”
IT:
“Ok so what happened next?”
Person:
“Well, when I sat back down I bumped my coffee cup so I had to clean that up first, but after a few seconds is when I noticed it.”
IT:
“So you’re drinking coffee?”
Person:
“Yep. It’s probably my 4th cup of the day lol”
IT:
“Ok. So let me see if I understand this correctly… You’ve had roughly 4, probably “Hot” cups of coffee which increases your heart rate and internal body temperature. You then walked up 5 flights of stairs to use the restroom which probably got your blood pumping even more.
Person:
“Uh-huh” (agreeing)
IT:
“And when you sat back down you said you were burning up. So you assumed that because you were burning up that there must be a fire. Is that correct?”
Person:
“Well… Well when you put it like that, No.”
IT:
“Do you need me to call the Fire Department?”
Person:
“Hold off for a minute on that. I’ll call you back if I notice any other issues. Thanks!” (hang up)
