I was a Team Leader in an after market warranty call center for Circuit City. I was assisting a tech with a call when a newbie tech came up to me frustrated by the call he was on.
The customer had a Packard Bell (Packaged in Hell) computer that had just died.
The tech had taken all the steps to resuscitate the system to no avail.
His question to me was, "I've done everything I know to do, what should I tell the customer?"
Without missing a beat, I said, "Tell the customer that her computer has finally reached sentience, realized it was a POS, and self terminated.
My Californian boyfriend is going to be sending me a laptop shortly so I can finally get rid of this 7+ year old compaq. Before sending it to me, one of the things he did was upload some songs onto iTunes. One day, over voice chat, I heard him talking to his dad about how iTunes could no longer find the songs, when something he said made me pause.
Me: Wait, did you say you moved them to the Recycling Bin after getting them on iTunes?
Him: Yeah
Me: It doesn't work like that. The songs have to remain in their respective files on the computer so iTunes can access them. iTunes is just a way to get easy access to them, it doesn't actually store them.
Him: Oh...
He re-uploaded the songs, and all was well. I love him to death, but he can be quite silly sometimes :P
